Citrulline is a non-essential amino acid, but its usefulness in the athlete is quite remarkable.

This amino acid is a precursor of arginine, but seems to be absorbed much better than the latter by the intestines.

It significantly increases vasodilation by stimulating the production of nitric oxide.

Citrulline supplementation has been shown to increase performance, reduce feelings of fatigue during exercise and may stimulate protein synthesis.

In addition, chronic consumption of Citrulline would lower blood pressure and therefore promote better health of the circulatory system.
